Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 13, 2026
Happiness List ("the App") is built and operated by Brad Lees ("we", "us"). This policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, how we use it, and what choices you have. We aim for plain language and minimum collection.
What we collect
Account information
When you sign in with Google or Sign in with Apple, we receive a unique user identifier and the basic profile information you authorize: your name, email address, and (for Google) profile photo URL. We use this to identify your account and personalize the app.
Habit data you create
Tasks you add, the days they're scheduled, and each completion you mark are stored in our database (Google Firebase / Cloud Firestore) under your unique user identifier.
Pairing data
If you invite or join a partner using the "Happy Together" feature, we store a small "pair" record linking your account to your partner's account, plus the temporary invite code. Once paired, your partner can read your tasks and completions (so they can see your weekly happiness score). You can unlink at any time from the Profile screen.
Notification preferences
If you grant notification permission, the App schedules local reminders directly on your device. We do not send push notifications from a server, and we do not store anything about your reminder schedule outside your device.
Things we do not collect
- We do not use third-party analytics or advertising SDKs.
- We do not track your location.
- We do not access your contacts, photos, microphone, or camera.
- We do not sell or rent your data to anyone, ever.
How we use your data
- To let you sign in and identify you across your devices.
- To save and sync your habits and completions across your devices in real time.
- To compute your happiness score, streaks, and history.
- To enable the optional "Happy Together" pairing feature with someone of your choice.
- To respond to support requests you send us.
Where your data lives
User data is stored in Google Cloud Firestore via Firebase, a service operated by Google LLC. Authentication is handled by Firebase Authentication. Google's privacy practices are described at firebase.google.com/support/privacy.
Your choices and rights
Edit or delete a habit
You can edit or delete any habit (and its completions) at any time from the Tasks tab.
Unlink from a partner
From the Profile screen, tap "Unlink" at any time. Once unlinked, your partner can no longer access your data and you can no longer access theirs.
Delete your account and all data
From the Profile screen, tap "Delete Account". This permanently removes your tasks, completions, pair links, and your authentication account. The action cannot be undone.
Children
Happiness List is not directed to children under 13 (or the age of digital consent in your country). We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has signed up, please contact us and we will delete the account.
Changes to this policy
If we materially change how we collect or use your data, we will update this page and the "Last updated" date at the top. Continued use of the App after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
